Get Your Pink Bunny On? I Don't Think So...

Forward Montana has launched a unique voter registration drive in Missoula, using cute college girls in pink bunny ears to snag otherwise unsuspecting male voters.

It appears they are also using a young man in pink bunny ears to snag, well, other types of unsuspecting male voters.

Sorry... but I never knew a girl to go for a guy in pink.

Anyways, the campaign is not without it's appeal, and the Scoop lauds anybody for registering folks to vote.

But, it does go to show what an amazing snow job progressive liberals have to conjure up in order to make their cause appealing. This video is so loaded with sex it makes Grey's Anatomy looks like the McNeal-Lehrer Newshour.

Not interested in helping undermine our country so we can lose a war we are winning in Iraq?

Ok then, how about a cute college girl in a tight pink shirt?

A note to all college kids approached to "get your bunny on"...read the fine print about what these folks support. If you agree, great. If not, register to vote and vote your own mind.

It might be fun to experiment with things in college, but joining a bunch of folks who want to turn our town into an urban ghetto like Seattle or Berkeley is not one of them.

Most of you can get laid on your own.

And what about a Matt Singer in pink bunny ears?

Even these folks know some things can't be dressed up.

Read the fine print, have you ever seen a voter registration card? There is no fine print.

Where is the snow job Scoop? And what are the numbers of new and re-engaged voters that your conservative ilk intend register?

You said it yourself...the Scoop lauds anybody for registering folks to vote.

Why get bitter about policy differences when you could get out and promote democracy while having some fun? When are you going to put on the bunny ears!?

Personally, I think that silly campaigns such as this to get people to register and to encourage them to vote at all are fantastic. Lots of people on both sides of the isle move around in Missoula and aren't aware that we're voting by mail this year. How is encouraging these people to re-register bad? Nearly 11,000 primary ballots were returned. I'm sure not all of those 11,000 ballots belonged to progressive voters.

I think the guys look great in the bunny ears. :) I'm a straight girl, too.

Gerik - "read the fine print" is a metaphor for finding out what Forward Montana stands for, not for actually reading fine print on voter registration card. Sorry I lost you on that one.

You got me all wrong. The Scoop is not at all bitter. I think this is funny and creative. It is nice to see liberal progressives not being angry and depressed for once. And...I think it is GREAT that people are getting registered.

I'm just asking folks to look beyond the boobies and vote on the issues they care about.

While the Scoop isn't wearing any ears, Mr. Googles is considering getting a pair for Halloween.

Anon - I never said it was. Not sure how you and Gerik read this into what I wrote. Next time: stick to the LARGE print.

I am encouraging folks to look beyond the sex appeal and think about the issues at hand.

There were "boobies" in that ad? Where?

If they have to be lured out to vote by their libido, do you really want them voting?

Scoop Montana said...

Geeguy - the boobies have shirts on them...sorry.

But they are nicely framed into many shots. Take the opening frame on the u-Tube video. I'll let you be the judge, but the Scoop thinks this was packed full of college aged sexual energy for a reason; and it is not to inform voters on the issues.

I am sure some film students have watched this with admiration. I certainly have.

The cause is getting people to engage in their democracy.

It is sad that we have to actually have campaigns to get people to vote, but I don't understand why you think that they are dishonest about getting people registered to vote.

I know that conservatives hate all the ickyness of dealing with what the common people think, but most of the time they do a pretty good (snow) job of not telling people that. But since we've caught you in a more frank moment, maybe you could tell us why you hate democracy?

I would guess that it's because the more people are engaged in voting the more likely the politicians you support are going to lose...

On another note, there's fewer sexual suggestions happening in that video than when a Republican politician goes to the bathroom.

I suppose that if I were a republican I would also only want staunch old white men who owned land to vote.

Pretty lame attack on people that are at least trying to do something different to drum up interest in the democratic process.

Well I think pink is all too appropriate for N-SHWP's who have a fantasy about the merits and outcomes of voter participation. Don't get me wrong, I'll defend the rights associated with voting with my life but I have to defer to Mencken on its outcome:

"Democracy is the pathetic belief in the wisdom of collective ignorance."

Good think we're not a democracy.

Good to see we've inspired such a lively discussion.

Fewer voters means more "democracy" for us rich white males - Don't you get it?

DOWN WITH PINK BUNNIES! UP WITH PRIVILEGE! KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT - UN-REGISTER A VOTER TODAY!

Shane C. Mason said...

Dave Budge, we have a representative democracy and you are wrong if you think otherwise. Your elitist disdain of the masses is quiet telling.

Dave Budge said...

Shane, your belief in the wisdom of the electorate is even more telling.

Why don't you address my point about "outcomes" before calling me an elitist?

There's an argument far beyond what you're apparently able to fathom here such as the ability of the majority to make rational choices. Is there no truth that by asking uniformed citizens to express an opinion that you, perhaps, work against your own interests?

Shane, I concur with what Dave is saying here about "outcomes" of uninformed opinions. I find it very bizarre when, for example, on internet news sites readers are asked to "vote" on potential outcomes of events in the news: "Should Gen. Pervez Musharraf step down as head of the Army in Pakistan before standing for reelection as President of that country? Cast your vote HERE." Who cares what the "masses" think about that? As for the important matter of voter registration, is the goal simply "the more the merrier"?

Which is worse? You decide!

1) Using sex to sell a voter registration drive. This is Forward Montana's "crime".

2) Using lies, nationalism and bigotry to sell an oil war and destroy America's civil rights. This is the George W. Bush Republican's crime.

Hmmm...

How do you know you have completely short-circuited a liberal-progressives argument about the Iraq war?

They start yelling “No Blood for Oil."
